Charitable Lawn Mowing Programs

Four structured tracks that deliver free lawn care to those who need it most, while training the next generation of minority entrepreneurs.

1
Charity Track

Veteran & Senior Relief Track

Trainees mow free of charge for elderly (age 62+), disabled, and veteran households, identified through partnerships with Enterprise-area churches, senior centers, and civic groups. Modeled on the national GreenCare for Troops and Pittsburgh City Cuts eligibility standards.

Eligibility: Age 62+, documented disability, or active-duty/deployed military household in Coffee County.

2
Training Track

Trainee Milestone Challenge: The 25 Yard Challenge

New MPL entrepreneurs-in-training must complete 25 charitable yards — a scaled-down version of the national 50 Yard Challenge model — to build real-world route management, equipment handling, and client communication skills before graduating to independent, paid client accounts.

60% Complete

Example Trainee Progress: 15 of 25 charitable yards completed — 10 more yards needed to graduate to independent client management.

3
Community Track

Community Give-Back Days

Scheduled group mowing events for single parents and low-income households across Coffee County, using MPL equipment and supervised directly by lead instructors. These events double as the "community service lawn days" already referenced in WASHME TV training materials.

4
Reporting Track

Digital Documentation & Impact Reporting

Trainees log every charitable job — before/after photos, hours worked, and client feedback — using a simple tracking sheet adapted from the volunteer dashboard concept used nationally by "I Want To Mow Your Lawn." This data strengthens WASHME TV's grant compliance reporting.

Suggested Program Targets

Quarterly Household Target

Serve a set number of elderly, disabled, veteran, or single-parent households per quarter in Coffee County, mirroring the 5-launches-per-cycle target already used for the food truck program.

Trainee Graduation Requirement

Each MPL trainee must complete a minimum number of charitable jobs before "graduating" to independent client management, similar to the youth 50 Yard Challenge milestone model.

Hours Logging & Compliance

All charitable hours are logged for board financial oversight and grant compliance reporting, consistent with WASHME TV's existing volunteer hours-tracking policy.
